I still think it's not about the tools used to create something, but about it's emotional impact on the viewer.
Nevertheless I will make an effort to explain how this was done:
This is one of the few images where I used an Terragen made landscape for the colored part. In general I prefer photos for my images because they are much more emotionally loaded with memories when/where you made them.
The black/white part is made as all of my images in Photoshop where I play with a hundred of layers until I'm satisfied with the result.
Now I can hear already some of you writing about the different pixelisation in my image. It's due to the different sizes/quality of the photos I used, and I like that - for me that's like a different kind of brush stroke in a traditional painting.
